Read these safety instructions, these original instructions, the safety instructions provided with the battery pack and the operating instructions supplied with the battery pack/standard charger before using the device for the first time. Proceed accordingly. Keep the booklets for future reference or for future owners.

In addition to the notes in the operating instructions, you also need to take into consideration the general safety regulations and accident prevention guidelines applicable by law.

• The device is intended for outdoor use.

• The device can be used to trim thin bushes when using the trimmer knife with associated cutting protection.

• When using the string reel with the associated thread protection, the device can be used for trimming grasses and heavy weeds.

• The device can also be used for mowing in places that are difficult to access with lawnmowers, e.g.ditches, slopes and clearings.

• Modifications and changes not authorised by the manufacturer are prohibited.

• Never use the device in a wet environment or in the rain.

• Never mow wet grass or other growth.

Any type of improper use is prohibited.

The operating personnel are liable for damage resulting from incorrect use.

The packing materials can be recycled. Please dispose of packaging in accordance with the environmental regulations.

Electrical and electronic appliances contain valuable, recyclable materials and often components such as batteries, rechargeable batteries or oil, which - if handled or disposed of incorrectly - can pose a potential threat to human health and the environment. However, these components are required for the correct operation of the appliance. Appliances marked by this symbol are not allowed to be disposed of together with the household rubbish.

The device can be operated with a Kärcher 36 V Battery Power battery pack.

1. Connect the upper and lower shaft segments.

   ---

   

1. Screw the handle to the upper shaft section at the desired height.

   ---

   

2. Use the wing screw to adjust the orientation of the handle:

   • Perpendicular to the shaft during operation

   • Parallel to the shaft during transport and storage

   1. Loosen the wing screw.

      Note

      The orientation of the handle can only be changed when the wing screw is completely loosened.

   2. Turn the handle in the desired direction.

   3. Tighten the wing screw.

1. Push the battery pack into the mounting in the device until it audibly latches into place.

   ---

1. Place the harness over both shoulders.

2. Snap the fastener into place.

3. Push the hook of the carrying harness into the eyelet on the shaft.

1. Remove the blade guard if necessary.

   ---

   

2. Press the trigger lockout button.

   ---

   

3. Press the trigger.

   The device starts up.

4. Use the speed switch to select the desired speed.

   ---

   

5. Guide the device in a semi-circular movement over the cutting area.

6. When mowing, guide the cutting head parallel to the ground.

7. Mow long grass in several passes.

8. Release the trigger.

   The device stops.

The string reel and the trimmer knife are available as cutting tools.

When changing from the trimmer knife to the string reel, proceed as follows:

1. Disassemble the trimmer knife.

   1. Insert a tool (e.g. screwdriver) through the recess on the side to prevent the cutting tool from rotating.

   2. Unscrew the nut.

      ---

      

   3. Remove the trimmer knife cover.

   4. Remove the sprocket.

      ---

      

   5. Remove the trimmer knife.

   6. Remove the cutting protection cover.

      ---

      

   7. Loosen the screws and remove the cutting protection.

2. Mount the string reel. When assembling the individual components, make sure that the respective side recesses match.

   1. Mount the cutting blade on the string guard, if necessary.

      ---

      

   2. Fit the string guard on the support.

      ---

      

   3. Mount the clamping plate.

   4. Assemble the sprocket.

      ---

      

   5. Mount the string guard cover.

   6. Insert a tool (e.g. screwdriver) through the recesses on the side to prevent the support from rotating.

      ---

      

   7. Mount the string reel.

Changing from string reel to trimmer knife is done in reverse order.

The string on the device wears during mowing and becomes shorter due to fraying and being torn off. A string that is too short will result in unsatisfactory mowing results.

1. With the appliance switched on, briefly tap the cutting head on the ground.

   The string extends automatically and is automatically trimmed to the correct length by the cutting blade.

1. Pull the battery pack unlocking button in the direction of the battery pack.

   ---

   

2. Press the battery pack unlocking button to unlock the battery pack.

3. Remove the battery pack from the device.

1. Remove the battery pack from the device (see Chapter Removing the battery pack).

2. Clean the device (see Chapter Cleaning the device).

• Secure the device against slipping and tipping over when transporting in vehicles.

Clean the device before storing (see Chapter Cleaning the device).

1. Fit the blade guard.

2. Store the device in a dry, well ventilated location. Keep away from corrosive substances such as garden chemicals and defrosting salt. Do not store the device outdoors.

1. Remove any remaining cutting residue from the cutting protection and the cutting head.

2. Clean the device components with a damp cloth if required.

3. Clean the battery mount and electric contacts of dirt and foreign bodies regularly.

1. Insert a tool (e.g. screwdriver) through the recess on the side to prevent the cutting tool from rotating.

2. Unscrew the nut.

   ---

   

3. Remove the trimmer knife cover.

4. Remove the sprocket.

   ---

   

5. Remove and dispose of the trimmer knife properly.

6. Mount the new trimmer knife in reverse order.

1. Position the rotary knob of the string reel so that the marks on the rotary knob and string reel cover match.

   ---

   

2. Remove remnants of string if necessary.

3. Pull the new cutting string through the eyelets until the cutting string on both sides of the string reel is the same length.

4. Press the rotary knob of the string reel and turn it clockwise.

   ---

   

   The cutting string is wound on the reel.

1. Press the two unlocking buttons on the string reel.

   ---

   

2. Remove the reel cover.

3. Pull the string reel off the support and dispose of it properly.

4. Possibly. wind a cutting string on the new string reel.

5. Fit the string reel in the support.

6. Fit the string reel cover in the support. Take care to ensure that the string reel cover audibly latches into place.

Malfunctions often have simple causes that you can remedy yourself using the following overview. When in doubt, or in the case of malfunctions not mentioned here, please contact your authorised Customer Service.

As the battery pack ages, even if it is looked after, its capacity reduces such that the full run time will no longer be reached when fully charged. This does not indicate a defect.

• Push the battery pack into the mounting until it latches into place.

Cutting head blocked by cutting residue

• Remove the cutting residue.

Motor has overheated

Remedy:

• Stop working and allow the motor to cool down.

Cause:

The battery has overheated

Remedy:

• Stop working and allow the battery to cool down to normal battery temperature.
