      Read these original operating instructions and the enclosed safety instructions before using the device for the first time. Proceed accordingly.

      Keep both books for future reference or for future owners.

      Intended use

      Use the device as a wet/dry vacuum cleaner:

      • For vacuuming floors and wall surfaces

      • For vacuuming moist and liquid substances

      • For vacuuming dry, non-flammable dust particles from machines

      • For industrial use,e.g. in storage and production areas

      • For commercial use, e.g. in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops, offices, and rental companies.

      The following are not in accordance with the intended use:

      • Vacuuming of substances harmful to health and inflammable substances.

      Environmental protection

      The packing materials can be recycled. Please dispose of packaging in accordance with the environmental regulations.

      Electrical and electronic devices contain valuable, recyclable materials and often components such as batteries, rechargeable batteries or oil, which - if handled or disposed of incorrectly - can pose a potential danger to human health and the environment. However, these components are required for the correct operation of the device. Devices marked by this symbol are not allowed to be disposed of together with the household rubbish.

      Insertion / locking of the vacuum cleaner waste container

      DANGER

      Risk of crushing

      Risk of injury when inserting and locking the vacuum cleaner waste container.

      Always hold the corresponding lever of the vacuum cleaner waste container with both hands when locking.

      Behaviour in the event of an emergency

      DANGER

      Risk of injury and material damage when vacuuming inflammable materials, or in the case of a short-circuit or other electrical faults

      Danger of inhalation of gases hazardous to health, danger of electric shock, danger of burns.

      In the event of an emergency, switch off the device and unplug the mains plug.

      Remote control

      Using the wireless remote control

      The appliances:

      • IVS 100/55

      • IVS 100/75

      are equipped with a radio receiver for the optionally available wireless remote control.

      ATTENTION

      Operation with a wireless remote control

      Teaching and operation of the device using the wireless remote control are described in the operating instructions provided with the remote control.

      WARNING

      Risk of damage

      Read the operating instructions and all safety instructions provided before using the wireless remote control.

      Indicator lamps

      Green
      • Blink codes for teaching the remote control (IVS 100/55 and IVS 100/75).

      • Lights up when the suction turbine is running.

      Initial startup

      1. Bring the device into the working position and secure with the parking brake if necessary.

      2. Insert the suction hose into the suction hose connection.

      3. Plug the desired accessory onto the suction hose.

      4. Ensure that vacuum cleaner waste container is inserted correctly.

      Permissible mains grid impedance

      DANGER

      Warning

      The maximum permissible mains grid impedance at the electrical connection point (see technical data) must not be exceeded.

      Contact your electricity supplier in the case of any uncertainties regarding the mains grid impedance at your electrical connection point.

      Operation

      Switching on the IVS 100/40 device

      1. Connect the mains plug.

      2. Switch on the device at the main switch.

      Switching on the IVS 100/55 and IVS 100/75 devices

      1. Connect the mains plug.

      2. Switch on the device at the main switch.

      3. Press the "Switch-on device" button.

      Vacuuming process

      1. Perform vacuuming.

      2. Regularly check the filling level in the dirt receptacle, since the device does not switch off automatically.

      3. Empty the vacuum cleaner waste container as necessary.

      4. Clean or replace the filter as necessary.

      Cleaning the filter

      A pressure gauge showing the vacuum inside the device is mounted on the front of the device.

      IVS 100/40 60 Hz
      1. Switch off the device at the"ON/IFF switch".

      2. Move the filter cleaning lever back and forth several times.

      IVS 100/55 and IVS 100/75 60 Hz
      1. Press "Switch off device" button.

      2. Move the filter cleaning lever back and forth several times.

      If this cleaning does not result in an improvement, the filter can be removed and washed or replaced (see section"Changing the filter").

      Use dust collection bag

      A dust collection bag can be inserted in the vacuum cleaner waste container to allow dust-free emptying of the device.

      Note

      The dust collection bag must not be used for wet vacuum cleaning.

      1. Insert the dust collection bag in the vacuum cleaner waste container and carefully press it against the wall of the container.

      2. Pull the edge of the dust collection bag over the edge of the vacuum cleaner waste container.

      3. Insert the vacuum cleaner waste container into the device.

      4. On completion of vacuuming, close the dust collection bag and remove it from the vacuum cleaner waste container.

      5. Dispose of the dust collection bag according to the applicable waste disposal regulations.

      Dry vacuuming

      WARNING

      Risk of damage

      When changing from wet vacuuming to dry vacuuming, please note that vacuuming dry substances with a wet filter can damage the filter and make it unusable.

      1. Allow the wet filter to dry completely or replace it with a dry filter before using the device for dry vacuuming.

      2. Replace the filter if necessary.

      Wet vacuum cleaning

      ATTENTION

      Risk of damage if the dirt receptacle overflows

      The dirt receptacle can fill within a few seconds and overflow when vacuuming large amounts of liquids.

      Continuously monitor the filling level.

      On completion of wet vacuuming:

      1. Dry the filter

      2. Clean the container with a moist cloth and dry it off.

      Emptying the vacuum cleaner waste container

      The vacuum cleaner waste container must be emptied when it is has filled up to approx. 3 cm below the upper edge.

      1. Switch off the device.

      2. Secure the device using the parking brakes on the steering rollers.

      3. Open the lock on the vacuum cleaner waste container upwards.

      4. Pull the vacuum cleaner waste container out of the device.


      5. Empty the vacuum cleaner waste container and insert it back into the device in the reverse order.

      Note

      The vacuum material container can be lifted by cranes at the handle. Maximum load for crane transport: 50 kg.

      CAUTION

      Risk of injury and damage!

      Note the total weight of the vacuum material container when transporting with a crane.

      Do not overload the container.

      Observe instructions on lifting with a crane.

      Shutting down

      Switching off the device

      1. Switch off the device at the main switch.

      2. Pull out the mains plug.

      Finishing operation

      1. Switch off the device.

      2. Remove the accessory and, if necessary, flush it out with water and allow to dry.

      3. Empty the vacuum cleaner waste container (see section "Emptying the vacuum cleaner waste container").

      4. Vacuum off the inside and outside of the device and clean with a moist cloth.

      Transport

      CAUTION

      When transporting in vehicles, secure the device against slipping and tipping over according to the applicable guidelines.

      Be aware of the weight of the device during storage.

      Switch off the device and unplug the mains plug before performing any work on the device.

      Maintenance intervals / user maintenance

      No periodic maintenance intervals are specified for this device. The following maintenance is to be performed as necessary:

      • Wash the filter.

      • Change the filter.

      • Replace the filter.

      Inspection and maintenance work

      Have the vacuum cleaner regularly inspected according to the respective national accident prevention regulations. Maintenance work as specified by the manufacturer must be performed by a technically qualified person at the specified regular intervals and in accordance with the applicable regulations and safety requirements. Work on electrical components may only be performed by a qualified electrician. Please contact a KÄRCHER branch office if you have any questions.

      Wash the filter

      The filter can be washed out under running water.

      ATTENTION

      Risk of damage

      Do not use washing agents or bleach. Only insert the filter into the device when it is completely dry.

      Changing/replacing the filter


      1. Filter chamber lid

      2. Filter spreader

      4. Sealing ring

      1. Release the lower end of the suction turbine hose and pull it off.

      2. Open the locks.

      3. Remove the filter chamber lid.

      4. Remove the filter.

      5. Check the sealing ring for damage.

      6. Insert the new filter in reverse sequence and take care to ensure that the filter spreader is aligned correctly in the filter bag.

      Troubleshooting guide

      DANGER

      Danger of injury

      Danger of the device unintentionally starting and danger of electric shock

      Switch off the device and unplug the mains plug before performing any work on the device.

      • The motor (suction turbine) does not start running 

      • No vacuuming operations, airflow escapes from the suction hose. 

      • Suction power slowly reduces

      The motor (suction turbine) does not start running

      Cause:

      No electrical voltage present

      Remedy:

      • Check the socket and the power supply fuse.

      Remedy:

      • Check the mains cable and the mains plug of the device.

      Remedy:

      • Check all parts for clogging.

      Remedy:

      • Check the fit of all electrical connections.

      No vacuuming operations, airflow escapes from the suction hose.

      Cause:

      Suction turbine rotating in the wrong direction

      Remedy:

      • Swap the pins on the plug.


      Suction power slowly reduces

      Cause:

      Filter, nozzle, suction hose or suction pipe clogged.

      Remedy:

      • Check the accessory for clogging.

      Remedy:

      • Clean the accessory if necessary.

      Remedy:

      • Clean the filter.

      Remedy:

      • Replace the filter if necessary.

      Escaping dust when vacuuming

      Cause:

      Filter not correctly fastened or faulty.

      Remedy:

      • Clean the filter and insert it correctly.

      Remedy:

      • Check the filter for faults and replace if necessary.
