Read the safety instructions, these original operating instructions, the safety instructions provided with the battery pack, and the original operating instructions supplied with the battery pack/charger before using the device for the first time. Act in accordance with them. Keep the booklets for future reference or for future owners.
In addition to the notes in the operating instructions, you also need to take into consideration the general safety regulations and accident prevention guidelines applicable by law.

Only people who have been instructed on how to use the device, or have proven their ability to operate it, and have been explicitly instructed to use it, must use the device.
Children and persons unfamiliar with these instructions are not allowed to operate the device. The age of the operator may be limited by local restrictions.
Children must not play with the appliance.
Children must be supervised to prevent them from playing with the appliance.
Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped beforehand, is visibly damaged or if it is leaking.
Safety devices are provided for your own protection. Never modify or bypass safety devices.
Only operate or store the device in accordance with the description or figure.
Have repair work carried out by the authorised customer service only.
Only store the device indoors.
Keep the disinfectant out of the reach of children.
If disinfectant comes into contact with the eyes, immediately rinse them carefully with water for a few minutes. Remove the contact lenses you have. See a doctor immediately.
If disinfectant was swallowed, call a poison information centre or a doctor immediately.
Get medical advice or help if your skin is irritated or if you feel sick.
People with active physical aids such as pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, insulin pumps, etc. are not allowed to use the device.
When using the device in hazard zones (e.g. service stations), adhere to the respective safety regulations.
Do not operate this appliance in areas where there is a risk of explosion.
Use only approved disinfectants.
Observe all information and instructions on the product labels of the disinfectants used, and their safety data sheets. Observe all safety, application and disposal instructions and regulations.
Never use the disinfectants undiluted.
Never use oxidative substances such as chlorine, peroxyacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or ozone.
Do not under any circumstances spray pesticides such as insecticides, herbicides or fungicides.
Do not spray flammable disinfectants or flammable liquids such as fuels, combustibles, alcohols, paint thinners or other substances that can form explosive vapours and gases with atmospheric oxygen.
Do not use the device to disinfect electrical appliances such as computers, ovens, extractor hoods, lamps or hair dryers.
When working, wear suitable safety goggles or a face mask as well as electrostatically dissipative protective gloves and safety shoes in accordance with EN ISO 20344. The insulation resistance must not exceed 100 MΩ.
Wear a suitable respirator of class FFP2 or higher. Do not breathe the spray mist and aerosols and ensure that the work area is well ventilated.
Only use disinfectants with a flash point of at least 15 K (15°C) above the ambient temperature.
Provide good ventilation.
Do not aim the spray jet at people, animals or active electrical systems or equipment.
Do not spray the disinfectant solution on hot objects or surfaces or in open flames.
Danger of injury from shock reaction to electrostatic discharge from the operator. Expect noticeable, unpleasant charge transfers when the electrostatic charging function on the device is switched on. Always ensure that you have a secure footing.
Check the device and the accessories prior to each use to make sure they are safe and working correctly. Do not use the device if it is not working properly or if it is not safe to operate.
Never leave the device unsupervised while it is in operation.
Operate the unit only at temperatures from 0°C to 40°C.
Only use the device on surfaces that are not sensitive to moisture.
Device damage due to dry running. Only operate the device as long as there is a disinfectant solution or fresh water in the tank.
Do not spray any liquids, cleaning agents, polishes, acids, paints, varnishes, decalcifying agents, acetone, essential oils or similar substances containing solvents.
The appliance contains electrical components - do not clean the appliance under running water.
Switch off the device and remove the battery pack before performing any care and service work.
Repairs may only be carried out by approved customer service sites or staff qualified in this area who are familiar with all relevant safety instructions.
Pay attention to the safety inspection for mobile devices for industrial use in accordance with the locally applicable regulations
Missing or modified safety devices
Safety devices are provided for your own protection.
Never modify or bypass safety devices.
You can lock the ON / OFF button with the locking button. This prevents the device from being switched on inadvertently.
Press the locking button before every long interruption of work, before refilling the tank, removing the battery pack or transporting the device.
This device is intended for commercial use, e.g. in hospitals, medical practices, schools, hotels, office buildings, factories and for the rental business. Use the device only in accordance with the information in these operating instructions.
The device is designed for disinfecting moisture-resistant surfaces on, for example, tables, shelves, doorknobs, railings, handrails and hard-to-reach places.
Only disinfectant solutions made from an approved, non-flammable disinfectant and clean fresh water may be processed with the unit.
We recommend using KÄRCHER disinfectant RM 735.

The ES 1/7 Bp is a mobile, battery-operated spray unit for surface disinfection.
To optimize the adhesion of the disinfectant solution to sloping, vertical or hard-to-reach surfaces, the disinfectant solution can be electrostatically charged by switching on a high-voltage cascade.
This device contains an earthing connection for functional improvement purposes only.
Remove the suction pipe from the tank.
Push the suction pipe into the socket on the device as far as it will go.
Charge the battery pack (see operating instructions and safety instructions for the battery pack and the charger).
Risk of injury and damage if the battery pack is not engaged!
A battery pack that is not properly engaged can fall out and cause injury or damage.
Make sure that the battery pack engages correctly in the battery mount.
Push the battery pack into the battery mount on the device until the battery pack audibly latches into place.
Danger of eye damage, skin and mucous membrane irritation, breathing difficulties and symptoms of poisoning when handling disinfectants!
Contact with disinfectants can cause serious eye damage, skin and mucous membrane irritation and breathing difficulties. The ingestion of disinfectants can lead to symptoms of poisoning such as nausea, headache and vomiting.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and mucous membranes. When working, wear suitable safety goggles or a face mask as well as electrostatically dissipative protective gloves and safety shoes in accordance with EN ISO 20344. The insulation resistance must not exceed 100 MΩ.
Wear a suitable respirator of class FFP2 or higher. Do not breathe the spray mist and aerosols and ensure good ventilation.
Do not drink disinfectant or disinfectant solution.
Observe the safety and handling instructions on the product labels or in the disinfectant's safety data sheets.
Fill the disinfectant into the round bottle up to the MAX mark shown.
Screw the dosing head onto the round bottle.
Turn the tank approx. 45° clockwise and remove it.
(Not required when putting into service for the first time).
Danger to life and risk of serious illness through the use of unsuitable disinfectants or incorrect concentration, dosage or contact time!
If unsuitable disinfectants are used for the application, or if disinfectants are applied in too low a concentration or amount, or if the specified contact times are not adhered to, then their effectiveness can be reduced or completely lost.
Use only suitable disinfectants, and follow all the manufacturer's instructions for use, mixing ratio, dosage and contact time.
Squeeze the round bottle in the middle until the required amount of disinfectant has flowed into the dosing head.
Take the following into account:
The specifications of the detergent manufacturer for the mixing ratio of disinfectant and fresh water
the corresponding scale on the dosing head
the capacity of the tank
Open the cover on the dosing head.
Fill the disinfectant into the tank.
Close the cover on the dosing head.
Fill the tank with clean fresh water (max. 40°C) until a disinfectant solution is mixed in the required concentration.
Fill the fresh water at most up to the MAX mark shown.
Place the tank on the device and turn it approx. 45° counterclockwise.
Risk of damage from dry running!
When operating the device with or without an empty tank, there is a risk of damage from the pump running dry.
Only operate the device as long as the tank is attached to the device, and there is disinfectant solution or fresh water in the tank.
Vent the device before using it for the first time and if necessary.
Hold the device so that the nozzle is pointing upwards at an angle of approx. 45° and not at yourself or a third party.
Press the ON / OFF button.
The device switches on.
Operate the device until the disinfectant solution emerges from the nozzle in the form of an uninterrupted, finely atomized spray cone.
The device is now ready for use.
Risk of damage due to moisture!
When applying disinfectant solution to moisture-sensitive surfaces, there is a risk of damage and changes in colour.
Before using the device, find out whether the surfaces to be treated are resistant to disinfectant solutions.
Before using the device, check the surfaces to be treated in an inconspicuous place for resistance to the disinfectant solution.
Do not apply the disinfectant solution to moisture-sensitive surfaces such as wallpaper, untreated wood or paper.
The disinfectant solution should be applied by a steady pendulum movement of the device, at a speed similar to the application of spray paint.
Work from top to bottom on vertical and sloping surfaces.
Switch on the electrostatic charge of the disinfectant solution in order to optimize the film formation and adhesion to sloping, vertical or difficult to reach surfaces. To do this, press the ON / OFF switch for electrostatic charging on the top of the unit to the "Blitz" position. Press to position "0" to switch off.
Be sure to touch the ground contact on the ON / OFF button.
Do not wear insulating, but rather electrostatically dissipative gloves and shoes in accordance with EN ISO 20344 with an insulation resistance of max. 100 MΩ, otherwise the device will not be earthed, and the electrostatic charge will not function.
To achieve an optimal electrostatic effect, the potential equalisation can optionally be carried out by means of a functional earthing, see chapter Earth the unit (optional).
If the capacity of the battery pack is almost exhausted, the device switches off.
In order to avoid a damaging exhaustive discharge of the battery pack, the device switches itself off before the battery pack is completely discharged.
Take the battery pack out of the unit and charge it, see chapter Ending operation.
In the event of work interruptions, before transport and after the end of work, press the locking button.
The ON / OFF button is locked, and the unit is protected against unintentional switching on.
To optimise the electrostatic effect, the unit can be earthed. To do this, use the optionally available sets, see chapters Description of the device and Spare parts list.
Plug the earthing plug into an earthed socket.
Connect the earthing cable to the earthing plug.
Connect the earthing cable to the earthing connection.
To extend the operating radius of the unit if necessary, connect another earthing cable using the adapter as shown.
Loop the shoulder strap around so that the pad rests on the shoulder.
Attach the snap hook of the shoulder strap into the eye at the top of the device.
If necessary, adjust the length of the shoulder strap.
Shorten the shoulder strap: Hold the length adjuster firmly and pull on the end of the strap.
Lengthen the shoulder strap: Hold the length adjuster firmly and pull the strap opposite the end of the strap.
Risk of damage from dry running!
When operating the device with or without an empty tank, there is a risk of damage from the pump running dry.
Only operate the device as long as the tank is attached to the device, and there is disinfectant solution or fresh water in the tank.
Fill the tank, see chapter Filling the tank.
Press the ON / OFF switch electrostatic charge to the "Blitz" position.
The disinfectant solution is electrostatically charged.
Press the unlocking button.
The ON / OFF button is unlocked.
Press the ON / OFF button.
The device switches on.
Check whether the disinfectant solution emerges as a finely atomized spray mist at the nozzle, otherwise see chapter Vent the device or Troubleshooting guide.
Move the device in even pendulum movements over the area to be treated, and apply the disinfectant solution as a closed film.
If the electrostatic charge is switched on, it can lead to unpleasantly noticeable electrostatic discharge through the operator. If you find this uncomfortable, switch off the electrostatic charge using the ON / OFF switch for electrostatic charge.
Release the ON / OFF button.
The device switches off.
Wait for the recommended contact time for the disinfectant solution.
Release the ON / OFF button.
The device switches off.
Press the locking button.
The ON / OFF button is locked.
Place the unit on the undersides of the tank and battery pack, or attach it to the shoulder strap, see chapter Putting on the shoulder strap.
Do not lay the device on its sides, otherwise disinfectant solution may escape through the ventilation hole in the tank, and damage surfaces that are sensitive to moisture.
Release the ON / OFF button.
The device switches off.
Rinse the unit, see chapter Rinsing the device.
Press the battery pack unlocking button, and pull the battery pack out of the battery mount.
Charge the battery pack, see operating instructions and safety instructions for the battery pack and the charger.
Also charge partly discharged battery packs after use.
Risk of damage and odour development from liquids remaining in the device!
Liquids in the device can lead to bacterial accumulation and odour development when not in use or in storage.
Disinfectant residues can dry up in the device and cause malfunctions.
Rinse the device with fresh water at the end of work and before storing it.
Empty the tank at the end of work and before storage.
Rinse the unit, see chapter Rinsing the device.
Remove and charge the battery pack, see chapter Ending operation and the operating instructions and safety instructions for the battery pack and charger.
Clean and disinfect the unit, see chapter Cleaning and disinfecting the device.
Store the device in a dry interior space protected from frost and direct sunlight.
Risk of injury due to unintentionally escaping disinfectant solution!
There is a risk of injury due to disinfectant solution if the device is switched on unintentionally.
Before doing any work on the device (refilling the tank, changing the battery pack, cleaning) and before transporting the device, switch it off, and press the locking button of the ON / OFF button.

When transporting in vehicles, secure the unit against slipping and tipping according to the respective guidelines.

Press the locking button.
The ON / OFF button is locked.
Lift the unit by the handle and carry it or use the shoulder strap, see chapter Putting on the shoulder strap.
Before transporting the device in a vehicle, stow it away or secure it against sliding, tipping and being thrown around.
Failure to observe the weight

Be aware of the weight of the device during storage.
Risk of damage due to frost!
An incompletely emptied device can be damaged by frost.
Completely empty the device and accessories before storing them.
Protect the device from frost.
Store the device in a frost-free place and not outdoors.
Store the device indoors only.
Empty the device and the accessory parts completely.
Pull the battery pack out of the battery mount to avoid discharging the battery pack, see chapter Ending operation.
Process the disinfectant solution in the tank or dispose of it according to local regulations.
Release the ON / OFF button.
The device switches off.
Fill the tank with clean, warm (max. 40°C) fresh water, see chapter Filling the tank.
Press the ON / OFF button.
The device switches on.
Operate the device until the disinfectant solution has been completely rinsed out of the device, and pure fresh water comes out of the nozzle.
Release the ON / OFF button.
The device switches off.
Press the locking button.
The ON / OFF button is locked.
Empty the tank and attach it to the unit, see chapter Filling the tank.
Risk of damage and odour development from liquids remaining in the device!
Liquids in the device can lead to bacterial accumulation and odour development when not in use or in storage.
Disinfectant residues can dry up in the device and cause malfunctions.
Rinse the device with fresh water at the end of work and before storing it.

Every day after use, clean the outside of the following parts with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent solution:

Disinfect the following parts every day after use:

If the disinfectant solution does not come out in the form of a finely atomized spray cone, the nozzle may be dirty, clogged with residues or damaged.
The nozzle can be removed and cleaned, or replaced.
Turn the nozzle holder approx. 45° anti-clockwise and remove (if necessary).
Remove the nozzle and place it in clean, warm (max. 40°C) fresh water. Let the fresh water take effect.
Remove dirt from the nozzle under running water with a cloth or a soft hand brush.
Do not use any hard objects such as needles, nails, paper clips or wire brushes, otherwise the nozzle will be damaged.
Check the nozzle sealing ring for damage and correct seating, replace if necessary, see chapter Checking the sealing rings.
Place the clean nozzle in the nozzle holder.
Insert the nozzle holder into the mount on the device and turn it approx. 45° clockwise.
Check the nozzle sealing ring for leaks every week. If there is a leak, remove the nozzle and replace the nozzle sealing ring, see chapter Clean the nozzle.
Check the tank sealing ring for damage every week. Replace the tank sealing ring if it is damaged.
Clean the fine filter weekly or every 20 tank fillings; to do so, remove the tank from the device, see chapter Filling the tank.
Pull the fine filter out of the suction pipe, and rinse under running water from the outside to the inside.
Install the fine filter in the reverse order.
Malfunctions often have simple causes that you can remedy yourself using the following overview. When in doubt, or in the case of malfunctions not mentioned here, please contact your authorised Customer Service.
The device cannot be switched on
Cause:
The battery pack is discharged.
Remedy:
Take the battery pack out of the battery mount and charge it, see chapter Ending operation.
Push the charged battery pack into the battery mount until it audibly clicks into place, see chapter Inserting the battery pack.
Cause:
The battery pack is not locked into the battery mount.
Remedy:
Push the battery pack into the battery mount until it audibly clicks into place, see chapter Inserting the battery pack.
Cause:
The ON / OFF button is locked.
Remedy:
Press the unlocking button.
Device switches off automatically
Cause:
The battery pack is discharged.
Remedy:
Take the battery pack out of the battery mount and charge it, see chapter Ending operation.
Cause:
The device or the battery pack is overheated.
Remedy:
Let the device and the battery pack cool down.
Store the device and the battery pack at room temperature. Do not the place the device and battery pack in direct sunlight.
Discharge of disinfectant solution is too low
Cause:
The tank is empty.
Remedy:
Fill the tank, see chapter Filling the tank.
Cause:
The nozzle is dirty.
Remedy:
Clean the nozzle, see chapter Clean the nozzle.
Cause:
The fine filter is dirty.
Remedy:
Clean the fine filter, see chapter Cleaning the fine filter.
Disinfectant solution does not come out as a finely atomized spray cone
Cause:
The nozzle is dirty.
Remedy:
Clean the nozzle, see chapter Clean the nozzle.
Cause:
The nozzle is damaged.
Remedy:
Replace the nozzle, see chapter Clean the nozzle.
Device is leaking
Cause:
The nozzle is leaking.
Remedy:
Check the nozzle sealing ring for damage and replace if necessary, see chapter Checking the sealing rings.
Cause:
The tank is leaking.
Remedy:
Check the tank sealing ring for damage and replace if necessary, see chapter Checking the sealing rings.
Check the tank for damage and replace if necessary.
Electrostatic effect is too low
Cause:
Potential equalisation not possible.
Remedy:
Wear electrostatic dissipative protective gloves and safety shoes according to EN ISO 20344. The insulation resistance must not exceed 100 MΩ.
Always touch the earth contact at the ON / OFF button during operation.
Optionally connect the unit to the functional earth, see chapter Earth the unit (optional).
The warranty conditions issued by our relevant sales company apply in all countries. We shall remedy possible malfunctions on your appliance within the warranty period free of cost, provided that a material or manufacturing defect is the cause.
