      General instructions

      Read these original instructions before using your device for the first time, adhere to the instructions contained therein and store them for later reference or subsequent owners.

      • Be sure to read the safety instructions no. 5.956-249.0 prior to the initial startup.

      • If the operating instructions and safety instructions are not observed, the device can be damaged and dangers could arise for users and other persons.

      • Notify the dealer immediately in the case of shipping damage.

      Intended use

      Use the device as a wet/dry vacuum cleaner:

      • For vacuuming floors and wall surfaces

      • For vacuuming moist and liquid substances

      • For vacuuming dusts of the dust classes IIIC, IIIB and IIIA

      • For vacuuming dry, inflammable dusts that are harmful to health (dust class M as per EN 60 335-2-69 with the exception of carcinogenic substances)

      • As type 22 for vacuuming inflammable dusts in zone 22

      • For industrial use,e.g. in storage and production areas

      • For commercial use, e.g. in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops, offices, and rental companies.

      The device is used for vacuuming wet substances and dry, inflammable fine dust (including dust classes L and M) with MAK values ≥ 0.1 mg / m³.

      • Non-hazardous wet substances and dust can be directly vacuumed into the waste container without a dust bag.

      • The dust bag with the order number 9.989-607.0 is to be used for vacuuming class L dusts.

      • The dust bag with the order number 6.907-646.0 is legally prescribed for vacuuming class M dusts.

      The following are not in accordance with the intended use for a type 22 device:

      • Vacuuming highly explosive dust particles or liquids

      • Vacuuming highly explosive mixtures of dust particles or liquids

      • Loading with a crane

      Environmental protection

      The packing materials can be recycled. Please dispose of packaging in accordance with the environmental regulations.

      Electrical and electronic devices contain valuable, recyclable materials and often components such as batteries, rechargeable batteries or oil, which - if handled or disposed of incorrectly - can pose a potential danger to human health and the environment. However, these components are required for the correct operation of the device. Devices marked by this symbol are not allowed to be disposed of together with the household rubbish.

      Operate and store the device indoors only.

      Note

      An air exchange rate L must be present in the room when the exhaust gas is returned into the room. To remain within the workplace limit values, the volume flow of returned air must be no greater than 50% of the fresh air volume (room volume VR x air exchange rate LW). Without special ventilation measures, the following applies: LW = 1h-1.

      Note

      Only qualified specialist personnel are permitted to use the device and the substances necessary for using the device.

      Note

      Servicing and cleaning of the device, including disposal of the dust bag, may only be performed by qualified specialist personnel using the prescribed personal protective gear.

      The accessories approved by the manufacturer are electrically conductive. No other accessories may be used

      Behaviour in the event of an emergency

      DANGER

      Risk of injury and material damage when vacuuming inflammable materials, or in the case of a short-circuit or other electrical faults

      Danger of inhalation of gases hazardous to health, danger of electric shock, danger of burns.

      In the event of an emergency, switch off the device and unplug the mains plug.

      Do not vacuum any sources of ignition! Suitable for vacuuming inflammable dusts of dust explosion classes in zone 22.

      Wear the prescribed personal protective gear when performing during emptying and maintenance work, including disposal of the dust bag.

      The maximum vacuum value in relation to the hose cross-section is specified on the label. The actual value can be read on the pressure gauge. If this value is not reached, the filter must be cleaned/replaced, see chapter Cleaning the filter. The various different hose cross-sections allow adaptation to the various different connection cross-sections of the accessories.


      The label specifies the order numbers of the filters and dust bags approved for use with this device.

      Exceeding the mains grid impedance can cause a short-circuit.

      The maximum permissible mains grid impedance at the electrical connection point (see Technical data) must not be exceeded.

      Note

      Additional regulations may apply to dusts with an ignition energy of less than 1 mJ.

      1. Bring the device into the working position and secure with the parking brake if necessary.

      2. Ensure that the suction head is fitted correctly.

      3. Insert the suction hose into the suction hose connection.


      4. Plug the desired accessory onto the suction hose.

      5. Check the filling level of the dirt receptacle and empty it if necessary before starting vacuuming.

      Operation

      Switching on the device

      If the main switch springs back to position 0 when the device is switched on then the polarity at the unit plug is incorrect. Change the polarity at the unit plug.


      1. Connect the mains plug.

      2. Switch on the device at the main switch.


      Wet vacuum cleaning operation

      ATTENTION

      Risk of damage if the dirt receptacle overflows

      The dirt receptacle can fill within a few seconds and overflow when vacuuming large amounts of liquids.

      Continuously monitor the filling level.
      1. Perform vacuuming.

      2. Regularly check the filling level in the dirt receptacle.

      3. Empty the vacuum cleaner waste container as necessary.

      4. Clean or replace the filter as necessary.

      Dry vacuuming operation

      DANGER

      Damage to the skin, lungs and eyes through fine dust

      Expulsion of fine dust due to a filter that is no longer permissible

      If the device has previously been used for wet vacuum cleaning, the filter used for this (wet or dried) is no longer suitable for dry vacuuming.Replace the filter with a new, dry filter.
      1. Perform vacuuming.

      2. Clean or replace the filter as necessary.

      Cleaning the filter

      A pressure gauge showing the vacuum inside the device is mounted on the front of the device. If the vacuum is greater than the value specified in the table, then the filter must be cleaned/replaced.

      1. Switch off the device at the "ON/OFF switch".

      2. Move the filter cleaning lever back and forth several times.

      If this cleaning does not result in an improvement, the filter must be removed or replaced, see chapterChanging/replacing the filter.

      Emptying the vacuum cleaner waste container

      1. Switch off the device.

      2. Secure the device using the parking brakes on the steering rollers.

      3. Open the lock on the vacuum cleaner waste container upwards.

      4. Pull the vacuum cleaner waste container out of the device.


      5. Empty the vacuum cleaner waste container.

      DANGER

      Tipping the waste container while transporting it

      Tipping the waste container while transporting it can lead to injuries.

      The vacuum material container can be lifted by cranes at the handle. The maximum load for crane transport is 50 kg. Be aware of the permissible total weight of the waste container when transporting it with a crane and adhere to the applicable legal regulations.

      Inserting the dust bag

      Insert the dust bag:

      1. Apply the parking brake.

      2. Unlock and lower the container.

      3. Pull out the container by the handle.

      4. Insert the dust bag. Take care to ensure that the dust bag sits close to the container wall and base.

      5. Pull the edge of the dust collection bag over the edge of the vacuum cleaner waste container.


      6. Fit and lock the container.

      Removing the dust bag

      1. Apply the parking brake.

      2. Unlock and lower the container.

      3. Switch on the device to avoid releasing dangerous dusts.

      4. Pull out the container by the handle.

      5. Pull the dust bag upwards.

      6. Seal the dust bag tightly with the closing strip underneath the opening.


      7. Dispose of the dust bag in accordance with statutory regulations.

      Closing the suction connection

      WARNING

      Danger of injury

      The suction connection must be closed using the connection bushing after removing the suction hose.
      1. Fit the connection bushing exactly in the suction connection and push all the way in.

      2. Turn the connection bushing all the way to the right to close the suction connection.


      Shutting down

      Switching off the device

      1. Switch off the device at the main switch.

      2. Pull out the mains plug.

      Ending operation

      1. Switch off the device.

      2. Pull out the mains plug.

      3. Remove the accessory and, if necessary, flush it out with water and allow to dry.

      4. Emptying the Vacuum cleaner waste container (see chapterEmptying the vacuum cleaner waste container) and vacuum the inside and outside and clean with a moist cloth.

      5. On completion of wet vacuum cleaning:

        1. Clean and dry the filter.

        2. Clean the waste container with a moist cloth and dry it off.

        3. Close the suction connection using the connection bushing, see chapter Closing the suction connection.

      6. Vacuum the inside and outside of the device and clean with a moist cloth.

        A vacuum cleaner with the same or better classification must be used for vacuuming the device.

      Information on disposal

      The following points are to be observed to when disposing of the device, operating materials and auxiliary materials:

      • Adhere to the applicable national regulations for your location

      • Adhere to the company-specific regulations

      • Dispose of the operating materials and auxiliary materials according to the respectively applicable safety data sheets

      Transport

      When transporting in vehicles, secure the device against slipping and tipping over according to the applicable guidelines.

      Be aware of the weight of the device during storage.

      Store the device only in dry indoor rooms.

      Care and maintenance

      DANGER

      Danger of injury

      Danger of the device unintentionally starting and danger of electric shock

      Switch off the device and unplug the mains plug before performing any work on the device.

      Note

      Observe the local accident prevention regulations and the safety instructions.

      Dust extraction machines are safety devices for the prevention or elimination of hazards according to the DGUV regulation:

      • For servicing performed by the user, the device must be disassembled, cleaned and maintained only to the degree that this is possible without presenting a danger to the maintenance personnel and other persons. Suitable precautionary measures include detoxification before disassembly. Make provisions for local forced ventilation at the location where the device is to be disassembled, for cleaning the maintenance surface and to ensure adequate protection for the personnel.

      • The exterior of the device should be detoxified by vacuuming and wiped clean, or treated with sealant before being removed from the hazardous area. All device parts must be regarded as contaminated when they are taken from the hazardous area. Suitable measures must be taken to prevent distribution of the dust.

      • All contaminated objects resulting from maintenance and repair work that cannot be satisfactorily cleaned must be correctly disposed of. Such objects must be disposed of in sealed bags in accordance with the applicable regulations for the disposal of this type of waste.

      • The suction opening is to be closed using the connection bushing during transport and servicing of the device.

      Maintenance intervals / user maintenance

      No periodic maintenance intervals are specified for this device. The following maintenance is to be performed as necessary:

      • Change the filter.

      • Replace the filter.

      Inspection and maintenance work

      Have the device regularly inspected according to the respective national accident prevention regulations. Maintenance work as specified by the manufacturer must be performed by a technically qualified person at the specified regular intervals and in accordance with the applicable regulations and safety requirements. Work on electrical components may only be performed by a qualified electrician. Please contact a KÄRCHER branch office if you have any questions.

      Changing/replacing the filter

      WARNING

      Emission of fine dust when changing the filter

      Wear the prescribed protective clothing when changing the filter. Change the filter in a suitable maintenance area.

      1. Release and remove the hose clamp from the connection hose.


      2. Open the locks on the filter chamber cover.

      3. Remove the filter chamber lid.

      4. Pull the new dust bag over the filter chamber and the inserted filter.

      5. Pull the filter into the dust bag and out of the waste container.

      6. Close and dispose of the dust bag.

      7. Thoroughly clean the exterior of the device before fitting the new filter.

      8. Check the sealing ring for damage.

      9. Insert the new filter in reverse sequence and take care to ensure that the filter spreader is aligned correctly in the filter bag.

      Troubleshooting guide

      DANGER

      Unintentional start-up of the device / electric shock

      Unintentional start-up of the suction motor can cause injuries. Voltage present on electrical parts can cause an electric shock.

      Switch off the device and unplug the mains plug before performing any work on the device.
      • The motor (suction turbine) does not start running 

      • Suction power slowly reduces 

      • Escaping dust when vacuuming

      Cause:

      No electrical voltage present

      Remedy:

      • Check the socket and the power supply fuse.

      Remedy:

      • Check the mains cable and the mains plug of the device.

      • Check all parts for clogging.

      • Check the fit of all electrical connections.

      Suction power slowly reduces

      Cause:

      Filter, nozzle, suction hose or suction pipe clogged.

      Remedy:

      • Check the accessory for clogging.

      Remedy:

      • Clean the accessory if necessary.

      Remedy:

      • Clean the filter.

      Remedy:

      • Replace the filter if necessary.

      Escaping dust when vacuuming

      Cause:

      Filter not correctly fastened or faulty.

      Remedy:

      • Clean the filter and insert it correctly.

      Remedy:

      • Check the filter for faults and replace if necessary.
