Kärcher (UK ) Limited has adopted the following board approved set of tax principles:

The below principles set out Kärcher (U.K.) Ltd.'s code of ethics in relation to tax transparency for the year to December 2022.

 

Introduction
Kärcher is the world’s leading provider of cleaning technology. Founded in 1935 by Alfred Kärcher it uses innovation and technology to solve domestic, commercial and industrial cleaning challenges making everyday tasks faster, easier and safer for its customers.

Kärcher in the UK is a £125m+ turnover subsidiary of the German parent, Alfred Kärcher SE & Co. KG, based near Stuttgart, Germany. The 40+ year-old UK business is based in Banbury, Oxfordshire and employs 264 staff.

As a socially responsible company, Kärcher behaves as a good corporate citizen respecting local values, standards and legal systems. We conduct our business in the spirit of trust, loyalty, openness, fairness, reliability and mutual respect.

Tax Risk Management

Kärcher UK identifies, assesses and manages tax risks and accounts for them appropriately to ensure the integrity and reputation of the Kärcher Group. Kärcher UK implements risk management measures over compliance processes and monitors the effectiveness of these.

The Company also ensures that it:

a) Employs recognised and appropriate systems, processes and suitability qualified advisors to ensure reporting, payment and returns are completed in a timely manner

b) Performs regular reviews of the control structure, process and systems to ensure they are fit for purpose

c) Has clear accountability and awareness of tax reporting, compliance and planning responsibilities up to and including the Board of Directors

d) The level of risk associated with tax payment and declaration is one of caution, to ensure there is a low risk of failure to meet all our statutory taxation obligations.

Tax Planning

Kärcher UK ensures that its tax planning strategy is in accordance with its business activity and adheres to the relevant tax laws with the aim of reducing the risk of uncertainty and concerns.

Where it is appropriate and responsible to do, Kärcher UK will take steps to minimise its tax liabilities by claiming the appropriate allowances, deductions, reliefs, incentives, exemptions and credits to ensure we maximise investment and business development in the UK.

We do not engage in artificial tax arrangements.

Approach to HMRC

Kärcher UK is committed to an open and collaborative professional relationship with HM Revenue and Customs. Correspondence and returns are fair, accurate with timely disclosure and Kärcher UK responds to queries and requests for information in a timely manner.

Kärcher UK is committed to paying the correct amount of tax in a timely manner within payment deadlines and interpreting the relevant laws in a reasonable way while ensuring transactions are structured consistently.

Transparency

Kärcher UK supports the move toward greater transparency in order to increase understanding of tax systems and compliance and to build public trust. Kärcher UK Ltd is committed to ensuring all stakeholders are able to understand the Kärcher UK’s tax position and that the information provided is fair and accurate.
