Kärcher turns 90

Kärcher is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Founded on 2 January 1935 by Alfred Kärcher as a tinkerer's workshop for heating technology in Stuttgart, the family business has developed over the decades into a world-famous brand for cleaning technology.

Kärcher cleans the dam to create Godzilla

Kärcher, the movie figure Godzilla and Saga Prefecture - a surprising combination that has now become reality on a dam in Japan. The occasion of the drawing was the project “Godzilla in Saga Dam Art Project Powered by Karcher'', which was jointly launched with the start of the new project “Godzilla in Saga'' developed as part of Saga Prefecture's communication project “SagaPrise!'' to celebrate two anniversaries: the Iwayagawachi dam in the Japanese prefecture of Saga, which served as the "screen", celebrated its 50th anniversary and the movie figure Godzilla its 70th birthday.

Kärcher cleans monument of the Balinese people

As part of its cultural sponsorship, Kärcher has cleaned the southern main portal with the flanking enclosure wall of the Bajra Sandhi Monument in Bali free of charge. The monument, which attracts visitors from all over the world, was covered in algae, mosses, fungi and lichens due to the humid tropical climate.

Kärcher cleans the Citadel of Besançon

With its extensive fortifications, the Citadel of Besançon is one of the finest masterpieces of the famous architect Vauban. Built between 1668 and 1683, it boasts an eventful history as a fortress, prison, storage area and currently place of interest with a zoo and several museums.

The family-owned company Kärcher continuously strives to make its packaging more sustainable. In doing so, the company focuses on a dual strategy: It reduces the volume of packaging overall and at the same time increases the recycling capability of the packaging required.

Cleaning in the heart of Paris

As part of its cultural sponsorship, the family-owned company Kärcher has cleaned the Escalier Lemonnier stairs and walls in the Tuileries Garden of the Louvre in Paris. The staircase is located in a central position in the Tuileries and is used by millions of tourists every year on their way between the Place de la Concorde and the Louvre.

Kärcher remains on course

Kärcher achieved a turnover of 3.294 billion euros in 2023 and thus grew by 4.2 per cent compared to the previous year – excluding currency effects by as much as 8.2 per cent. The family-owned company with its headquarters in Winnenden (Germany) now generates 86 per cent of its turnover abroad and has continued to invest in the development of new markets and proximity to its local customers in the past year with the establishment of new companies in Uzbekistan and Vietnam, among others.

Kärcher employees all over the world cleaned up polluted rivers, lakes and beaches

Plastic bottles, cigarette butts, cans – rubbish carelessly discarded after use pollutes parks, streets, rivers and forests. With the "Kärcher Clean-up Days" the family-run company Kärcher wants to do something about it: This year between 15 and 17 September over 500 employees in 20 countries cleared rubbish from rivers, lakes and beaches.

Kärcher cleans fountains in front of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich

They are 180 years old and modelled on the wonderful creations to be found on St. Peter's Square in Rome: We are talking about the fountains on the plazas Geschwister-Scholl-Platz and Professor-Huber-Platz in front of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

Kärcher presents new sustainability report

Kärcher published its 2022 Sustainability Report, which provides information about implemented measures and the sustainability strategy until 2025. Compared with the starting year in 2020, the company reduced its CO2 emissions by 11,150 tonnes in the 2022 reporting year.

Kärcher cleans the forecourt of Helsinki Cathedral

It is over 170 years old and the most famous landmark of the Finnish capital: Helsinki Cathedral. Its forecourt and stairs are a popular meeting place for young and old in spring and summer. To coincide with the start of the warm season, the cleaning company Kärcher is now giving the forecourt and the surrounding stairs of the cathedral a thorough cleaning free of charge as part of its cultural sponsorship.

A work of art of a special kind

A very special work of art is being created on a dam wall in the Luxembourg town of Vianden. In a cooperation with the family-owned company Kärcher, which is supporting the project free of charge as part of its cultural sponsorship, the Luxembourg energy company SEO (Société Electrique de l'Our) and the ViArt Vianden art association, the artist Klaus Dauven is creating a so-called reverse graffiti on the over 100-metre-wide and 30-metre-high surface of the dam wall at the Lohmühle.

Cleaning of the "Glaskathedrale" in Amberg

The last building designed by the famous Bauhaus architect Walter Gropius is located on the outskirts of Amberg. The so-called "Glaskathedrale" ("glass cathedral") due to the shape of its roof has been used as a glass production facility since its construction until today.
