Cleaning in the heart of Paris

As part of its cultural sponsorship, Kärcher has cleaned the "Escalier Lemonnier" steps in the Tuileries Garden of the Louvre in Paris. The staircase is centrally located in the Tuileries and is used by millions of tourists every year on their way between the Place de la Concorde and the Louvre.
The Kärcher experts cleaned the limestone staircase in the middle of the Tuileries Gardens with a hot water high-pressure cleaner in the gentle steam setting, removing biological growth and emission soiling. As the availability of water and electricity was limited on site, two self-sufficient hot water high-pressure trailers were used, which can be operated without a power or water connection thanks to their own tank for water and an integrated motor.
During cleaning, a low impact pressure of just 0.5 to 1 bar and mainly steam was used. The dirt is mainly removed by the high temperature of the steam, which is around 95 degrees Celsius on the stone surface. This type of cleaning is very gentle and does not damage the original substance of the staircase. Another advantage of cleaning with hot steam is that the seeds and spores in the stone spores are killed by the high temperature, which delays the growth of new growth.
